1pm - Second scare of the day. Parker’s heart rate finally returned to normal, as did Nykele’s blood pressure. Then we started noticing a strange anomaly with Parker’s heart rate. About thirty seconds after the zenith of a contraction, Parker’s heart rate would drop down by about thirty BPM, then would take awhile to get back up to where it needs to be. While that may not be a HUGE concern at this stage of the pregnancy, the fear lies in what may happen when Nykele’s contractions come closer together and intensify. With about 5 minutes between each contraction, he has the chance to re-stabilize, what will happen when he only has 2 minutes or less between contractions?

The nurse decided it would be a good idea to turn off the pitocin drip for awhile and see if we can get things back to normal, then she’ll reinitiate the drip and see what happens. We’re praying that the doctors will be guided in the best course of action, and that if possible we can still have this baby without having to cut Nykele open.

2:00pm - Good news! Everything has returned back to normal! Heart rates and blood pressures are in good shape and if things stay this way then we’ll be back on track for non-Cesarean delivery.

2:30pm - Upped the dose of pitocin, contractions are happening closer together and with more intensity.

3:45pm - More good news... well, sorta. Nykele finally dilated to a 2! But, the weird thing is that Parker’s head is further back than when we first came in... he’s supposed to be moving forward, not sinking back.
