Things have been so crazy that I don’t even remember time frames, so sorry for the inspecificity (yes, I just made that word up).
We learned the reason that Parker wasn’t descending in the way we’d hoped... Nykele’s bladder was full (she couldn’t feel it because of the epidural) and it was acting like an airbag keeping parkers head from crashing into the cervix... the only issue is that we WANT his head to crash into the cervix, we want his head to GO THROUGH the cervix! Stupid bladder, trying to help and just getting in the way. You should of seen what the bladder was doing to Nykele’s stomach, it looked like a cantaloupe was trying to push its way out the front of her stomach. Thanks to a catheter, the pressure has been released. The nurse was hoping to get about 200ml out, what a shock when 700ml filled the bag. No wonder the bladder was getting in the way, it was filled to the size of Parker’s head!
Nykele is feeling a lot better now, she thought that she was feeling the contractions each time, turns out she was feeling the pressure against her bladder because now that the catheter is doing its job she doesn’t know she’s contracting unless we tell her.
Parker’s head has dropped down a little more, and after a couple of hours the nurse came in to check and see if Nykele dilated past a 2... being told, “no” hurt a bit.. maybe it’s the lack of sleep but our emotions feel strained. Coming in at 8 last night, we had hoped that we would have had our little boy by now. We’re quickly approaching 24hrs of waiting to hold our son.
